Defensive Driving Course (DDC)

This course is approved and presented under the direction of the Canada Safety Council.

Any business that has company vehicles will have collisions. The consequences to company accidents are:

  • higher medical and vehicle insurance costs

  • lost time and productivity

  • possible hiring and training a replacement worker

A transport company reported that drivers who had taken Defensive Driving Courses were involved in 70% fewer chargeable collisions then those who had not and the average cost per collision of trained drivers was 33% lower. A municipality reported 58% reduction in the number of vehicle collisions five years after introducing DDC.

Occupational health and safety regulations hold companies accountable if their employees are injured when conducting job-related duties for which they have not been trained.

The Defensive Driving Course is an established, proven program designed to produce:

  • Fewer company vehicle collisions

  • Less absenteeism due to injuries and court time

  • Life-long safe driving habits.

DDC is designed for the adult learner.

  • Complete concepts are presented so they are easily understood.

  • Materials are fully integrated. This enables participants to learn visually and through group discussion, as well as with some use of reading materials.
